3" dp with a 2.5" catback

does anyone run a 3"-2.5" setup? i was wondering if the flanges will match up. a decent taper can be made, but i really do't wanna have to weld a reducer and a 2.5" flange on if i don't have to.

My friend did that , he has a 2.5 inch prodive exhaust(just muffler) and a 3 inch hks dp. We took it to an exhaust shop and they made a mid piece and welded it together. Its pretty sick . cheap too . It costed him like 50 bucks to make the mid pipe and have it welded together.

My Invidia dp mates up to the 2.5 inch stock resonator pipe. Double gasket, solid bolts and Kartboy hangers (long) to take up the slight shortness.

Even if the flanges were able to mate together, a reducer flange is still preferable to avoid the mismatch going from the larger 3" to the smaller 2.5" tubing. That sharp step will create a lot of turbulence and reduce flow. What you want in an exhaust system is a smooth transition for maximum flow.
