Can I throw a BoV diirectly on a stock 03 motor or do I need a certain type of BoV?

But this was tested on a 2014, and not bugeye....Is a waste of money on the 2.0? im new here.

 

Yes, waste of money unless you're aiming for a peak boost level above 20 psi. Stock valve recirculates (good thing), is free, can't be set up improperly like aftermarket valves, works very well, and doesn't require maintenance.
