if thats the block i've seen he's going to need one hell of a cooling system, the walls on the one i saw were alot thinner than a normal block. Ontop of the obvious cooling needs over a normal block he's going to need a strong drivetrain. I'm relatively sure a fully maxed out 2.8l is capable of descimiating pretty much any stock parts

whats the differences between stroked and being bored out? But from what I understand from talking to one of the guys that make them, they say other than a few parts they offer all stock parts will work with it. But I figured the same as you guys. You turn a 2.0 into a 2.8 and your obviously gonna have some issues youll have to pay serious attention to.

when you stroke a motor, you increase the displacement by replacing the pistons, rods, and crankshaft. boreing a motor means you're shaving the walls to increase displacement.

Why not just get a 3.6l EJ20? I mean 3.6 is greater than 2.8, right?
Ok, seriously now. Displacement can be calculated knowing the bore and stroke and # of cylinders. What bore and stroke will that 2.8l use?

stroking a stock 2.0 engine to a larger size is just going to give you problems especially bumping up to a big 2.8 liter...it would be in your best interest to use a stock 2.5 L engine and stroke that one to a larger size or just leave the size alone and get better internal parts like camshafts, pistons, etc.
also keep in mind that ESX motorsports have a kit that can make your car 500 or 740 horsepower, but the cost is prohibitive at around 30000, which is more than the original car's cost and for that price you might as well just buy a corvette if you want big displacement!

To build a 2.8, you must bore and stroke it.
The WRX block will not accept the bore size necessary to make a 2.8, you must start with a larger bore block.
Alex, Changing the length of the rod only will only effect the rod ratio.
Changing the stroke of the crank is how you "stroke it", i.e. Stroker

Conrods and crank
or Crank
Of course, in most case people change the rods as well, but in general one can stroke the engine by changing out the crank.
