was at the BBQ on sunday and one of the guys was talking about the new 04s having a plastic intake manifod and it being alot better than the cast one. i wonder what the weight difference is between the manifolds are and what benefits. I think he said that the air doesnt get as heated and i forgot what else...

Plastic intakes have been used on other makes for awhile, I think the MBZ M104 twin-cam 6 cyl had used one in the late 90's, my friend's new 2004 Chevy truck 4.6 has a plastic manifold.....I think the last of the air-cooled 911's used plastic manifolds, makes sense.....lighter, smoother internal finish, easier to manufacture......But I don't know if the 04 WRX has crossed over yet.....I thought the 2.0's were ideentical to '02 and '03.

Even the STi has a cast manifold which is painted red!
