Vishnu EMI adapter review
Hey all!
I just got back from Vishnu Tuning and had the emi adapter installed as part of my (now finished) stage1 kit.
WOW The throttle response is amazing I drove the WRX over the weekend with the stage 1. With just the stage 1 (and stage 0!!) the car would have minor hesitation as you go through the power band. All that hesitation is gone, nada, niet, zilch... the only gauge on the part throttle temps was my oil temp, which now runs around 75-80c instead of the old 90c. The power delivery is so smooth, you don't have to downshift, err umm, unless you really want to..
Nothing but smooth blissful turbo spool'en fun. Just what I expected Shiv and his crew at Vishnu. Great job guys!!!!

you conversion to the blue side is complete..

I have been looking at one of those, but I am kinda on the fence as I am probably going to be upgrading to a utec.
I wonder why the TXS guys didn't think of that before releasing their unichip??
Oh well... I can live without one, but I am still striving for that smoothness. ; )
Good to hear you like it.

Glad you like it Chris!
Suddenly it becomes clear why we didn't release any higher-hp Stage packages until we finished such a device. Who knows, by next month, we may be up to Stage 8
Cheers,

I'm intrigued...
My ONLY compliant w/ the Unichip is that it has those little hesitation 'fits' in the powerband where it's not totally smooth like the stock ECU was (still worth the gains and safety the Unichip provides though). Shiv or Chris, does this thing fix those little hesitations? Does it really fix all of them? Does it make the Unichip feel like the stock ECU again? Looking at just the Vishnu website, I'm a little confused, but a lot interested. In addition to the smoothness, does this also add part-throttle power? Also, I tend to leave my car in the low revs, IOW if I'm at 2800 RPM in 4th I'll shift into 5th ect. ect. What is that problem the site mentions about giving it a little gas at low RPMs?

stileg57,
It will not make the car feel like the stock ECU. The power curve is smoother than stock.
I drove to LA (~450 miles) in turkey day traffic yes it sucked. Ironically enough, coming back I bombed up Rt1 and it took the same amount of time as going down in traffic, but I digress.
At low revs, most (99%) of the low RPM hesitation is gone. The great part is, Shiv tells me that we can tune that out with the EMI adapter.
The problem mentioned on the website (I have not read it recently), happens to me at light engine load, around 3000 rpm. The engine will either surge a little, or hesitate a little depending on the engine load. It's not consistant and hard to nail down. If I drive like you 2800rpm, 4th gear, I don't see the problem (too much engine load) It's mildly annoying, but not as bad as with the hesitation you get without the EMI adapter.
You should order one, you won't be dissapointed.

I really appreciate the fact that Shiv lists the downsides of the EMI right on the page. Not many tuners will do that so openly, and his honestly is going to earn him my business if/when I choose to mod. Hopefully by then a next-gen version will be even more refined.

I ordered the Vishnu Stage Sub-Zero (old kit with EMI Adapter, up-pipe, pulleys) on 20-Nov-2002 and received it one week later. I live close to Vishnu's location, though, so UPS doesn't take long to get it to me.

I can't recall which package you ordered. My (old version) Stage Sub-Zero was installed by Doug (one of the recommended installers) and I've never gotten a CEL.
