you're going to need a custom tune with the VF39 since none of the Cobb maps are tuned for it.
Give S-Squared a call at (916) 631-7440 and ask for Nate. They're in Sacramento and are authorized EcuTek dealers, and they really know what they're doing.

I actually thought about giving a used VF39 a try with the Cobb VF30/34 reflash, but was able to get a new VF34 for only $150 more than what used VF39s go for. You can always give it a try, but everytime I see someone use a non-recommended part with off-the-shelf maps they end up making less power than they should. I would agree with Russ that you should consider S-Squared, iSpeed or Vishnu for a custom map. We are spoiled in the Bay Area with all the tuners around.

I think a 30/34 map would be safe with a be safe with a 39 since its basically the same turbo with a smaller turbine housing for better spool(39=P17 housing, 30/34=P18 housing) so if anytinhg you would have a bit more margin of safety using a 30/34 map on a 39 since its going to have a bit less up top where you would possibly run into problems, just my 2 cents
