Signs of piggy-back or mods to ECU?

I pulled the carpet and plate from my ECU for the first time yesterday, and was wondering about a few things. First, there was a large piece of double-backed adhesive left on the top of the ECU case. Secondly, the wire harness has a plug in it I've never seen before in pics...coming into the passenger footwell, the harness goes through the loom past the two sealed bands, but just before it mates with the connectors on the ecu, there is a plug connector that comes out of the harness.

Obviously, I bought the car used. Any thoughts?

I'm working on getting my hands on a digital camera this weekend, so I'll get something up as soon as I can. I was hoping someone could verify that plug was supposed to be there in the meantime, since I've never seen it in any pics of the ECU in place before.
