Injector duty jumping around
I did some logging with my utec and as i was reviewing the log i kept seeing a pattern that the injector duty would jump high and come back to normal. Does this happen with anyone else with an sti with perrin injector mod? What could be the reason why it does this? I know im running really rich and trying to lean it out. Heres some of my log i just took parts from the log where it happens. Thanks

Thats what "modified" injectors do. There are few threads that I have been saying that in the past few weeks.
Before your injectors fail on you while going WOT, invest in some quality aftermarket injectors.

Damn dude all the time we have spent working on that car and Imprezer says they could fail
Why is that Imprezer how could they fail since they are stock modified injectors??

That is just not the safest way of getting more fuel into the engine. It is the cheapest, but not the safest. And, when it comes to fuel delivery, don't cut corners, as the price you would have to pay if something goes bad is very high.
Modified injectors will never flow as steady and constant and reliable as the high-flow injectors.

I have had customers come in with those injectors asking me to troubleshoot their problems.
I had seen cars with modded injectors on the dyno's with their jumpy A/F and duty cycle.
I don't know how I can show you one example, but I have seen about 4-5 cars having issues with them. I have no reason to make **** up, hehe.

Problems starting, bad idle, hesitation at WOT...
All those problems were still there after trying to "tune" them out. After I swapped the injectors (god bless Perrin rails), all problems went away even without a immediate retune.

so let me rephrase...
when you said:
"Before your injectors fail on you while going WOT, invest in some quality aftermarket injectors."
you didn't actually mean you've ever seen a modded oem injector fail while going WOT?

No. And I am glad I didn't, hehe. But if they are unstable at idle, would you wanna risk running them at WOT? I mean, its just a matter of comfort level, I guess. Sure, you can use garden hose as your fuel feed line, but would you really want to do it and risk setting your butt on fire when you can buy a high quality Earl's line?
Personally, I am very picky about my fuel sustem components as it is the MOST critical part of the car, if you ask me.
