How to confirm used APv1 is unmarried ?
I want to buy a used APv1 for my 2005 wrx. I found somone who has one for sale. They claim that it is unmarried, etc. But because the person has no sales history to show reputation I asked that they send me a picture of the screen showing it's unmarried.
He has already sold the car but says when he turns on the AP it reads:
Please choose a new map to flash to ECU
Press OK/Cancel
Does this message show without being hooked up to a car/PC? He claims that he doesn't have camera with him to take a picture of the screen.
Thanks all, I don't want to get scammed.

If the v1 AP that he is selling does in fact read:
Please choose a new map to flash to ECU
Press OK/Cancel
Then it is unmarried....it was also show that if plugged in via wall ac plug.
If it is still married to the car, when the AP is plugged in a list of options will show on the screen.
I know this because I recently sold my v1 and looking for the info on Cobb's forums confirmed that I unmarried the AP properly.
Try to get that screen shot/picture before you buy...and have him put your SN somewhere in the picture as well. That way you sorta know that he's not trying to rip you off.
