help am I waisting my time? ECU help

I have the chance to buy a G box Stage 1 chip for 02 wrx. Its pretty cheap. Am I waisting my time looking at it? Then there is a chip on ebay for $4.99 claiming 20hp gain. I doubt that, but when I emailed him, it is a generic chip that does not plug in. I heard from others that they had problems installing the g box in there 2000 and less subaru's. Thanks for any help.

DO NOT BUY THAT!!

Sorry for the all caps. Only buy from reputable vendors that advertise on one of the subaru sites or unless they are a good shop like rallyspec who I don't think advertises but does quality stuff and has been around for years.

If you are looking for more power look into www.vishnutuning.com www.turboxs.com or www.cobbtuning.com are the ones I would recommend.

I have purchased one thing for my WRX on E-bay and it did not turn out well at all. My humble advice is to stick to reputable vendors (check out the vendors forum, here) and do exactly what you just did- ASK

There is a wealth of knowlege both here and on NASIOC. (and others, too, I just don't get around that much) Just do a search first, and if you can't find what you are looking for, then post up.

And if you want a quality chip for a great price, check out Cobb.
