gaining mpg?

Which aftermarket parts will be most effiective for gaining mpg's?

what is a reflash and is this something that i can do myself or should it be done professionally?

Only done professionally. Either www.cobbtuning.com or an authorized Ecutek tuner. www.ecutek.com

My preference goes to an ecutek setup, but the Cobb system is much better in terms of price. Being in northern Cali, you have a couple ecutek tuners to choose from. Vishnu Tuning and i-speed. i-speed would get my money though as they are more customer friendly

Uppipe gave me large gains if I keep my foot out of it

I drove from CA to Washington before the install at about 24-25 MPG driving pretty constant speed on the highway. On the way back (after install) I got about 28 doing very similar driving.

after my stage 4 install and tune i was most definetly getting better milage. im not sure about mpg, but for each full tank these were my numbers:

stock-233-260 miles/fillup

stock w/gfb bov-187-200 miles/fillup

stage 4-260-290miles/fillup

Those seem like really crappy numbers. That is just over 15 mpg stock?? I thought wrx were supposed to get like 20-25.

yeah i was thinking about that when i posted them,the most i EVER got was when i had to bring my side skirts to a kid very far away, igot 315 miles on one tank. i think thats because it was all
highway.

I seem to get between 230-260 with mostly city driving. I'm stock, so I'm hoping a gutted uppipe, 3" turboback, and Cobb's stage 2 will fix that...

The best way to get more MPG is:

1. Change your driving habits

Keep you foot out of it. Accelerate moderately. Drive slower.
Use the highest gear you can.
Use cruise control.

2. Let the car do less work

Minimize weight. Don't carry a bunch of stuff in the car.
Inflate your tires a couple of pounds higher.

Those two things will do more than any aftermarket parts.

But, if you are really after MPG, buy a car with less power

Yeah, that was really my point.

If gas mileage is high on one's wish list, perhaps one should really be looking at a different kind of car.

Has anyone ever seen a combination cruise control/constant throttle holder gizmo? Although I did not buy my RX for economy, having to use 93 octane does run up the cost. (Hard to find 91 octane around here). I have tried "blending" 87/93 but that is a PIA.
