Feild afc

I recently installed a Field afc and am only capable of tunning it with my knock link sensor. For those who are using this unit I would like to know what your settings are for each rpm. thanks

I have worked to the Feild Afc. You should find a AWD dyno with a A/F meter. Depending what your mods are I would shoot for a 10.6 to 10.8 A/f on a dyno. A lot of tuners go up to 11.0+ but I would not because you don't have control over timing and the factory computer will shut off the knock senser over 5500 rpm. I would not us a knock link for tunning on the street only. If you can get a ETG (mounted at number 1cyl last one in the fuel rail) like greddy and stay under 830c or 1526f to 1550f with the stock boost you will have a good understanding on how to tune then add an MBC and put the boost up to 15psi and adjust the AFC, You will have to richen the A/F form the stock boost.

Disclaimer: I would tune my on car on the street with out first going to a dyno for A/F readings. Gauges are very inportant for saftey and knowing were your limits are. I would suggest to get a Vishnu tuned ECU for Plug and Play.

I don't remember what my settings are but I have them written down at home somewhere. You can't take someone else's setting to use in your car anyway, but I'm running about a -7% correction in the midrange, tapering off to -4% at redline, IIRC. My A/F is about 11... anything higher than that resulted in pinging at high rpm.

I used to have an AFC and now I run the Field SFC. They do about the same thing, only in different ways. I love the rev limit beeper on the SFC... but it's kinda hard to find in this country.

So from your 1,000-3,000 rpm range your running -4% (four clicks negative on the afc) What is your a/f gauge reading? I dont have one yet but as soon as I hook up this harness to my Blitz sbci-d I will. Like I said before I was tuning to my knock link due to the fact that there is'nt a AWD dyno in Hawaii. the settings are as follows. 1,000=0 2,000=0 3,000=3 4,000=4 5,000-6,000 are all set at 5. I know that Im running rich but I'm still tuning and trying to figure out what works. More info or feed back would be gladly excepted.

thanks,
Ralph

The A/F sensor you're talking about isn't at all accurate enough to do any tuning off of. Like Eric says above, EGT is going to be the most important piece of information available to you to tune (unless, of course, you have a Wide-Band O2). Lastly, do not attempt to use someone elses settings, sure, it's possible that you may end up with similar settings, but enough is different that you can have serious problems. Play safe.
