Does anybody using a Cobb AP need to tune their wrx?

Hey all, I've had a cobb AP on my wrx for a few weeks now and i think the rattling / tapping sound that's coming from my engine at 3k rpm needs some attention. I've already pinged the group here to see if anybody else has had similar problems and it sounds like nobody has.

On a more generic note, has anybody with a Cobb AP had their car custom tuned to make it run better with the AP? If so, a recommendation of a shop in Southern Cali would be truly appreciated. THanks for the advice.

my car specs:
2002 wrx - stock except for
Helix catless up, Cobb catless dp
karboy short throw
cobb ap running either stage 2 91, or stage 2 cali 91

The rattling/tapping sound you're describing sounds exactly like knock. This is extremely bad for the longevity of your engine and as you expected, deffinately requires some attention. A custom tune by a good tuner should fix the problem as well as add power and drivability. The only choices I'm aware of down south are Harmon and I-Speed. Both have very mixed reviews, so be ware.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks

If you do not have the money for a custom dyno tuning you should look into buys custom made maps for your car and its mods. There are a couple of companies making them and they do not even have to be local

this is probably yet another stupid question from me, but how can they make a custom map for my car without having the car in the shop to see how it "fits" into the ecu?

i actually unmarried my Cobb AP this morning and i'm still getting the rattling at 2500-3000 rpm which is making me think i might be dealing with a heat shield after all. i guess i've gotta figure out a way to find out but i'm not sure how to do this since i've got to be driving and stick my head under the car to do that.
