Chip for 2003

I bought a 2003 when they came out and I have decided to upgrade it. The first thing I am looking into is putting a chip into it. I have read that 2003 are un able to accept certain kinds of chips and I would like to know what these are. I have also been looking for the Turbo XS unichip and Vishnu unichip and I dont see anythng on there web sites about them and I am wondering where I could purchase them if they worked. Please help me out.
EDIT: I should have mentioned this earlier but I feel ashamed of it. I have an automatic WRX (long story) and I am also wondering if this will not allow me to put in a chip.

boxer4racing.com, prestige sube in asheville NC...Also search for vishnu and turboxs.com, I've been looking at both as well and am looking for a good place to have this tuned once installed need a 4wheel dyno in SEast to get most out of this mod.
Automatic!
Hey, theres nothing wrong with an automatic when you have to site in traffic. I have a 5sp and get so aggrivated with traffic i feel like pulling my hair out. Oh wait, it's falling out on its own. lol!

That's because Vishnu Performance hasn't utilized the Unichip in a long time. They've since gone with the XEDE piggyback (switchable maps, much more sophisticated than the Unichip) and the EcuTek reflash for your ECU. Both work on model year '02 and '03, 5MT or 4EAT with no problems.
Cobb Tuning also offers a reflashed ECU at a great price but I haven't spoken with anyone locally about it. They utilize their own proprietary software for the re-flash.

I also have an auto in my WRX and was wondering the same. As far as performance. If you stand on the brake along with pulling on the e-brake. Once it spools up it will take off rather good. But on the down side it kind of sucks for all out performance.

I don't mind the my 4EAT at all. Main reasons are that I don't street race and my car is basically a daily driver in a city notorious for its traffic problems. Put a bad left knee also and the 4EAT was the right choice. Sure when my car was stock, it did a 16.2 best for quarter mile but the car sure did respond well with mods. Thats almost 2 sec quarter mile difference compared to the 5spd. But it was all about the launch.
The Cobb reflash works with the 4EAT(not sure about the others) but if you are planning to go with a torque converter, I'm sure full engine management could be used to take advantage of the torque converter lockup.

Personally, I'm trying to wait until Cobb Tuning has it's AccessPort available. I can't have any downtime (can't ship out my ECU to Cobb). I know I can go to Vishnu because he is local, but the reflash is about $650. Cobb's is $395 + ~$100 for the AccessPort that will allow you to flash the ECU yourself. Check out www.wrxforum.com
