Chances of blowing motor with Cobb AP

im about to pick up a Cobb AP v2 this saturday and i was wondering if its likely to blow a motor if something goes wrong. cause ive blown a motor before on a previous car and i dont want to go through that **** again haha. my concern is that, are the maps to upload dummy proof where you cant go wrong?

cobb ap wont blow up your engine. it's designed for your car. now, if you try to tune your car with no background/experience. then the possiblity is high.

the off the shelf maps on the cobb ap will not blow up your engine. there is only stage I and II Map. . . .stage one is pretty much used for no mods, and stage II is if you have a turbo back, intake/no intake. . . then you have economy map and valet map as well. . .

so you'll be fine bro!

loaded the map and drove

he was a n00b ***

detonation = something loose like a bolt or head sheild rattleing around so he didnt think much of it

its a he so i spared you the ASL

which is why i ALWAYS say get a custom tune

i think paul will agree w/ me the benifits of a custom tune are bigger than the costs of it

all motots are not the same. you could have two identical cars. some will take timing others wont
thats why tuners have to tune and an off the shelf map they have written wotn work on every car
it will get them in teh ball park but that wont tune the car

OH and for the love of god dont say my car has the same turbo exhaust ect ect and yet my friend makes 5 more HP than me on the dyno what gives

time day temp humidity better bearings differnt gas floor mat in the way ect ect
all legit things i have seen that give a different reading

Is it really recomended to get a tune if you switch to an after-market turboback? I have an 06 tr by the way.

the AP will not blow your engine, a bad tune (via any tuning method) will blow your engine.

no, the AP is a device used to load the tune onto the ECU, its the tune that you load that'll cause the problems.

clarification: it is the bad tune you load, not the device used to load it, that'll blow the motor

its always recommended! it doesn't hurt it your engine as much. You'll get more power, and smoother power band through each gear with a tune. . .

you can load a tune with the same values via an AP or an OpenSource software....it is the tune you load, not the device used to load it that'll cause the problems

Depending on what part(s) fail(s), the tune may have nothing to do with it.
Pistons, rods, cranks, bearings, etc, that have manufacturing defects will fail regardless of tune.
