Im pissing fuel away----

Quick question for anyone who might know; Ive been running with my CEL on for a little bit now, Up and TBE, injen intake, turbosmart BOV -waiting for my utec to come back from getting professionally tuned, I didnt want to run just a base map and/or mess with engine management specifics on my own--figured id do it right the first time! Anyway the error code P0420 is a cat inefficiency code since the car has no cats what so ever------when the cel fix (lets say from perrin or whoever) deletes that code, will the ecu govern distribution of fuel correctly once again? Its been running rich as hell. Its worse than my 2.5 GT was. Please help I cant afford the fuel anymore.

P0420 doesn't make you use more fuel. Your right foot does that.

I've got the mechanical cel fix and have thrown a cel a couple times. The all knowing BAN SUVs is right P0420 doesn't effect anything. You just gotta lay off the gas.

All you have to do to reset the cel is to unplug your battery, and press the brake a few times. Reset mine both times. Hope that helps.

I'm not all-knowing dude, I just keep my mouth shut when I don't know the answer.

P0420 will usually come back quickly though, so it's worth finding a way to defeat it rather than resetting your ECU every ~250 miles and losing your fuel and spark learning.

so I take it you're catless?
I never had a problem with the mechanical fix. Over 4,000 miles.

i had the same problem, i bought a kit that fixed that problem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
heres the link

although my engine light is still on due to a #1 cylinder miss fire, my car runs so rich that 2 1/2 foot flames shoot out of it and when i look at my exhaust at idle its spits gas, i can only get about 14mpg driving concervitive

any ideas how to fix the miss fire??

Sounds like you have a MAF sensor issue, or a boost/vacuum leak.

Take it to a local qualified mechanic or dealer and tell him what's up. The only other thing I can think of that would cause that is a stuck injector. They are still stock right?

Try taking that out. Many intakes cause bad MAF readings. See if that fixes it.
