Unhappy Busted Engine

Hey i was runnin some test settin up for a race....while settin ma boost...when i thought i had everythin set right.....i realized my car started losing power and alotta blue smoke came thro the exhaust....now there was the clackin noise in the engine my guess is that i melted a piston and i was runnin about 15psi boost. i was searchin the net and i found this site www.wrxtuners.com, but its a advertising site not retail, i saw a racing piston kit ( forge pistons, rods, rings etc ) and i wood like to know if n e of u guys out there can hook me up with a kit like this.

here's a link to the kit

http://www.wrxtuners.com/parts/produ...roducts_id=235

my car is a 95" GC8 subaru wrx STi from outta japan.

My guess is that you probably need to buy a forjed tarboe valv. Yours may have imploded from running too rich in your tork crownvortortex.

LOL!!!

How about... 15psi is not EVEN CLOSE to as high of boost you COULD run on a ver3 STI motor...

Oh, and, how's that you probably didn't have enough fuel, ran lean, and broke a rod, due to NOT KNOWING HOW TO TUNE.

OK, enough with the jokes. You got a broken motor, trust me, i feel for you. But even if you get all those neat little forged internals, to beef up that motor, you will most likely STILL blow it up... why? because you don't know how to tune bro. Also, what kind of management are you running? What are you using to control fuel?

There are many factors that go into making a fast car. Tuning motors is the the hardest thing anyone will ever do on their own when building a fast car. My advice, is go with professionals. Call Vishnu, Cobb, TURBO-XS, or I-Speed...

You can also list out EXACTLY what you have, and what you want to do, here in the proper forums. Ask questions, do your homework kid.

Also, your car was made to run on about 97 octane... Even Sunoco 94 isn't going to cut it when you start messing with the boost settings on your own...

I second what Gagan said. Also, you're assuming the block isn't trashed. Since you obviously don't have the car know-how to tune (or to even realize that you need to tune to begin with), I'm willing to bet that you don't have the skills to rebuild your motor. That leaves you with two options:

A) Replace the entire shortblock which would most likely be cheaper and easier than rebuilding it with forged internals. Plus your engine may have already had forged internals for all you know. There is no such thing as a bulletproof engine, detonation can and will kill even the strongest of motors. This option would require you to pay a professional to tune your car on a dyno as well.

B) Sell the car, buy an SRT-4 and move on with your life.

LOL, I didnt realize Chrystler was makeing cars that you can turn up the boost without any tuneing and not have to worry about anything breaking. I guess all of the statistics are wrong and Chrystler makes a car that is more reliable than a Subaru.

SRT-4's are unbreakable. Teddy, while you're at it, you can order me some gauges too.

Im not trying to bash the SRT-4, I am just saying that if you dont know what you are doing and you start trying to tune a car you are likely to trash the motor even if it is a SRT-4. I'll be the first to say that Dodge is one of the best auto manufacturers at building fast cars and yes the SRT-4 is faster than a WRX but I would still rather have a WRX because of its handeling.

I think you missed the sarcasm in kellie's post.

It's become a silly tradition to say things like "SRT-4 are teh fastar" or "SRT-4 are teh fastest EVAR!"
