Bov?
I was just wondering if I were to install a blow off valve, would this void my warranty? Also, what have u guys found to be the best blow off valve for the WRX? (As far as sound and price) Thanks. Also, if anyone knows where to get em for a good deal.

you're modifying your air and fuel delivery systems if you are not getting a BOV that meets the same specs as the stock one. I'd say its a viable reason for a dealership service writer to complain.
you should just do what I did, take out all your cats, get an 100% non-return BOV and blow flames at the people behind you.

A Bypass valve should 'recirculate'; additionally, purging the plenum in hopes to facilitate shooting flame out your exhaust, particularly with turbine blades in the system ( unless you have a nice exhaust leak in your straight pipe or at the back box ), is not particularly effective, well, in the flame thrower sense. Bear in mind, the car has metered for air _before_ the shift/throttle-off condition ( unless you have converted to MAP, which is not likely ), so you are creating a super rich condition at one of the most critical performance junctions in the systems operation -shifting and throttle-off/on transitions. Thats not cool, thats just fricken stupid.

Being that our cars' fuel delivery is based on MAF readings, if you unexpectedly loose a ton of air you're going to have too much fuel. MAF is read before the compressor. The BOV dumps afterwards. Its not hard to see that this is a bad combo.
Admittedly right now I have such a bad combo. When I'm in a turn and I've come in a bit to hot and I want to squeeze off the gas, the BOV dumps and I bog. This jerks the car making for a very unsafe turn. I need an aftermarket BOV still because my other one is old (and already questionable) and I run ~17psi now with a vf34. I'll be looking into something that is atleast a variable or 50% return.
