anything you do to enhance the performance of your engine shortens its life. the more properly you do it, the slower this effect will be. If you add an MBC or EBC and dial in a pound or two more, I'm sure the bad effects will be negligible.

Hmm. Not sure I altogether agree but thats cool.
I always thought that if you drove it like you stole it had much more to do with durability / reliability of the motor and or car; regardless of modifications.

From what I have gathered our stock electronic boost controllers are pretty good, as well as our fast ecu's. I would say have your engine custom tuned with better performance paramaters wich would probably include some boost increase and better management of all components wich contribute to more usable power in the desired rpm range.

The stock boost controller is pretty sucky compared to many aftermarket ones like the Blitz dual solenoid or the Apex-i AVC-R's.
Kwilson21, as for you're not agreeing... that's OK
Think about this though: the more you stress metal, the weaker it becomes. Engines are generally overbuilt. The closer you get to matching their hardiness and going over it...
