Apex'i Auto turbo timer
I installed the Apex'i turbo timer in my 03 wrx. The problem I am having is that I can't make it full auto. What two wires do I need to tap into off of the ECU for the front O2/A/F sensor? I need a good positive voltage and a good ground. The install wiring manual it came with is for an older model impreza, not a wrx.
Thanks,
Thanks,
look up the pin diagram here:
http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/m...ng/wrxpin.html
look for the Rear oxygen sensor unit. splice into lines B17 and B19.
PS: Some how the diagram is horizontally flipped....not sure if it's because this is a right-hand car's ECU. You know what i'm saying, right?

I need to tap into the front O2 sensor. Does it make a difference? Some after market shops are telling me I need to tap right off the lines coming from the O2 sensor as opposed to the ECU. If you look at that wiring diagram, it says they are both positive voltages coming off the ECU. Should I tap off the wires right off the O2 sensor or should I try to find some more wires coming from the ECU?

However I am pretty sure it should not be spliced into the front O2 sensor. If you look at the manual(of the turbo timer), it only interpolates the A/F ratio by looking at a scale of sensor voltage that goes from 0 to 1 volt. The front O2 sensor has dual voltage output(+ve and -ve terminals) and its voltage is 2.8 to 3.2. Although you do have the capability to re-scale the auto timer's interpolation, i doubt the timer can read voltages > 1v

I've got the same timer with the same problem. it works fine, just for a preset amount of time (coincidently, I don't really know what an appropriate amount of time is??? the dealer told me that some older turbo subies had a sticker on the back of the visor that said to leave it running for 30 seconds after driving. and somebody else told me to let it go for about a minute, so right now its set at 40 seconds... I also just bought an AVC-r and need the pinouts for that too... I'm gonna go check to see if you're right about the diagram being inverted, but I think it may be totally incorrect, I already printed it off and couldn't figure it out.
one other question about the timer... It doesn't allow me to arm the alarm until it shuts the car off. There is however one more fat white wire (a short one though, about 4 inches) coming out of the vehicle-specific harness I bought. any chance this could splice in somewhere to enable the alarm while the car is running... if not it makes sense, cause the alarm cut out the ignition, right... just like everybody else says, thanks in advance for the assssistance, Ben

The pin diagram is as if you're looking out from inside the ECU. I found this out when carefully matching the colors of wires and patterns of those empty holes. This adds a little difficulty but shouldn't be too hard. You'll just have to find the particular two wires (the signal and the ground).
I found the following instructions useful(i followed another instruction set for my installatoin but this one is the same):
http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/m...ain/tt/tt.html
For the alarm-while-engine-running thing, the last few steps it is:
11) If you have the optional security upgrade from Subaru, you must now modify your car so that your security system will arm while running on the timer.
12) Above the fuse panel, there is a black Keyless entry module. Remove this - 1 10mm bolt.
13) Find the dark green w/ black trace wire and cut it. Tape both ends and bolt the keyless entry module back where it came from.
14) On the security system module (located on the drivers side of the parking brake) find the gray wire and cut that, taping both ends.
15) You are all set. Put everything back together and have fun.

whoa, sounds good...
that is a bit scary, but if you say so... will that disable some of the functions of the alarm that keep people from stealing my little baby? like if they break the window, could they still start it up and drive away now because I disabled that... thanks

Thanks for the info, I will try it out this weekend. What turbo timer are you running? Does it have the O2 capabilities? I am a little sketched about cutting the security system wires, but since I soldered in my turbo timer as opposed to ordering the vehicle specific wiring diagram, I am sure I have already voided my warranty. I appreciate your help, and will find out if it works this weekend.

Well, it worked. I doublechecked with the dealer just to verify the wiring diagram. They copied the page right out of the manual, and gave it to me for the wiring on the O2 sensors and EGT sensors. I wired it to my rear O2 sensor, and am glad to say that I have been getting readings, and it is functioning in full auto mode. I am going to cut those wires for the security system sometime this week (work schedule pending). Thanks a lot for your help. It is hard to find people that know what they are talking about all the time, there are so many peole that just blow smoke. I don't pretend to know too much about cars, and it helps to find someone that does. We will be in touch for some other questions soon. Thanks.
