AP vs OS?
AP vs OS?
Hello everybody, im curious if i should go the Cobb AP route or stick with a mild, conservative OS tune?
Reason i ask is i found a guy here in town who is willing to sell an unopened (still in box) cobb ap for 150. Sounds sketch but its legit! I am 100% set on getting a tuner to take a look at my car soon (afr's, boost lag, check up, etc) but im wondering if i should pick up the ap for ****s and gigs or if i should just stick with an OS and save the money?
Im a fairly conservative driver, and im thinking an AP isnt really necessary for what i want or need.
Any input helps guys thanks!!

i like the AP for the features and availability to change maps, but like i said im pretty conservative when it comes to driving. The tickets made an impact on my soul!!!

I've inquired about open source to cobb transition if i ever bought an ap for switching between E85 and 91 maps. I was told If you are OS tuned your map can be converted to a Cobb map.

Advantage of cobb is reading cel's & easy switching between maps. If you don't plan on switching maps, you really don't need it. I've had both types of tunes, I like my AP just for the troubleshooting, but for the normal going price of an AP, you can get an open source protune.

If you can get the AP for that cheap, I say go for it. It is a really good tool to have to check up on boost and AFR (to a certain extent) if you don't have anything to monitor those parameters with. If you decide not to keep it, you can always resell it. Just my .02.
I appreciate the input, i might as well buy it just to play around with it for a while. 150 bucks is dirt cheap for an AP. Ive seen used stage 1's run up to 500 on CList. Profit is always a good thing!
