AccessPort question

Ok guys,

My friends 02 is acting up. He bought it used in stock form with about 30 thousand miles on it. This was a while ago. Come to find out the car has had some mods done possibly some ecu tuning. Well now the car is misfiring and not running as smooth. The dealership told him that they would have to reprogram his ECU for a ridiculous amount.

My question is. Can I use my AP and uninstall it from my car, reset his ecu with a stock map, then turn around and uninstall it from his car back to mine? Will this leave a good stock map flashed on his ECU? From what I undrstand the original map is deleted and can never be used. The only thing I am worried about is that I have an AP for an 04 and his car is an 02. Will this cause my AP to malfunction when reinstalled back to my car?

And for those of you worried about copy rights I just want to see if I can help a friend save allot of cash and down time.

i dont know what would really happen but i would NOT try it....besides take a look at the initialization connector. the 03'-04' looks different then the 02' connector. i dont think it would fit. you could probably mod the connector but WHY??....like i said before dont try it.

hope this stops you from making a big mistake.
