AccessPort year compatability question

I keep getting mixed answers and i just wanted a strait answer before i go wasting a ton of money

If someone has an AP v.2 from lets say a 04 wrx and its unmarried can you use that AP for another wrx lets say 06 wrx.

some people said that they are all year and engine specific. i was under the impression they were all the same AP it just depended on what maps you download to it.

can someone please clear this up for me... thank you

check out cobb's site

http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=4505
that's for the 04-05

http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=4503
that's for the 06-07

different part numbers so I'm thinking 04-05 are different 06-07's
