Yeah - they are expensive, and worth it
Installed the Accessport on my 02 WRX last night and have had 24 hours for it to sink in.
Using the Stage 1 91octane settings (in 100deg heat!) I am REALLY impressed.
The boost comes in at ~2500RPM a full 1000 below the 3500RPM I was getting stock. The torque band is much smoother with the engine pulling hard and consistantly to 6000RPM.
This is on a dead stock drivetrain 2002 WRX hatchback. Everthing that was bugging me about the car's driveability is gone.
A little info about me:
I spent 8 years in the Hi-performance automotive industry (2 at Corvette Clinic, 6 at Speed Merchant) where I designed, tuned, and generally got to play with extremely hi-end cars. We are talking 1000+HP Twin Turbo Corvettes and such. '
We had a chassis dyno and were factory approved for Accel Gen 7 DFI, FAST, LT1 Edit, and AEM.
I have been Auto-Xing for 9 years, and currently own a CP 71 Camaro with ~500HP
All of that said
Lets say that I'm VERY picky about aftermarket parts, and this unit is impressive.
Bite the bullet, buy an Accessport, you won't regret it.

i got a downpipe (hks sadly but hey it was $50) and i cannot wait to get an AP, I have been looking at those ever sense i first saw one at FLI about 2 years ago.
from what I have read, the first couple days to a week of uploading a map you're supposed to drive the car like you stole it so the ECU learns how you drive.
when I buy mine, that sounds fun to me

best mod i ever did to my suby was the access port
i had mike at gruppe-s do a custom map and the engine really made some good numbers.
and the smoothness of power is so much better then the stock map.
