Yes this is normal. Colder air = denser air thus leaner conditions which in turn = knock.


Back when the UTEC wasn't around WRX owners were having to turn down their boost controllers a pound or two during the winter months. Now with UTEC's, Xede, and other forms of aftermarket engine managment this is becoming all too common to have multiple maps throughout the year for varying weather conditions.


Owning a UTEC, I would have thought you would have known this?

So as the temp drops would your boost gauge indicate an increase or decrease in boost without changing any settings?
