LIC Motorsports Adjustable Timing Idlers
LIC is now offering adjustable (eccentric) timing idlers; they’ve been in use on their own motor builds and current race car for quite some time. These used to be made in house by hand but now are precision CNC machined. These come engraved with LIC on the face, feature strict OEM tolerances, and have a 10mm hex for your socket to hold it in place while you adjust the timing with perfection. Current offering has been tested and proven on the LIC Motorsports Time Attack STi during the 2010 race season.
These especially play a role with heads and/or blocks that have been resurfaced, as well as different thickness head gaskets. These are recommended for any race build you do on a Subaru.
Items included:
-2 idlers with LIC eccentric insert
-2 bolts (10.9 Grade)
Retail: $159.90 (sold in pairs)
More info at LICmotorsports.com!

Ours is no different than the way the factory idler insert is setup, which is a solid steel insert, but with an offset hole to accommodate adjustment(s). We have run factory modified ones, LIC first prototypes ones (same as this design but didn't have the 10mm to maintain easier access to tightening it while maintaining desired timing), to these same ones pictured...we have yet to have any issues associated with them under any scenario of which we used them. I would consider our racing usage of them an extreme much harsher environment too (always in the highest RPM/stress area).
