He needs a new sign:

"I was court-martialed and ordered to stick this stupid thumb up my ***... and I liked it!"

I think before the pansied, socialist, anti-war, prance in the streets for a protest, tree-hugging members of i-club get their panties bunched up so tight it will require the jaws-of-life to save them......lets look at this for what it is....

In any stressful situation (particularly war) men find pasychological relief in humor, many times gross or deranged humor....for those of you who have not been in the military or have relations to servicemen this can be seen when someone in the family dies...usually the men are telling jokes that if the women heard - well we may have more funerals to attend in the near future....

The soldiers who made this picture are undoubtably in need of some relief...so thats why its ok there

Now, these villager kids, who based off of the smiles and thumbs up - don't read english are happy to be taken in a photo with an American Soldier. Most citizens there are...so as for the kids, they are in a picture with an American Soldier....they are happy because of this, they have a cool story to tell their friends, they don't know what the sign says....and I'm sure the Americans gave them some stuff too - either food or candy or some trinket..

So where are we now....

We have some soldiers who are feeling relieved.

We have some kids that got to do something fun, which there hasnt been a whole lot of oppourtunity for in a long time.

We have a discussion on i-club...

So remind me again of how this is wrong?

Although i agree with you i pretty much made the same point earlier. What you have to understand is a lot of people on this forum love to bash.

Let's ljust et this picture go because it's really not a big deal. Don't want this to turn into another meaningless thread. It's just a picture afterall... it's not hurting anyone.

One word: Exploitation

Your acceptance of this is why America considers exploitation a pastime. It's also why the rest of the world hates us.

Let's say I took your disabled sister and put her in a picture like this. How would you feel about it? This picture is the same, it's exploitation and that makes it gross. You're just willing to let it go because their skin isn't as rosey white as yours and you have no relation to them.

One, I dont have a disabled sister. But, if I did, and she didnt know what was going on....it would be funny.

Two, I don't give a rats a$$ that they aren't white. I would still be laughing if it were white kids in the pictures.

Three, since when did YOU get bothered by gross humor?

i just think it's wrong. just b/c those kids don't understand it doesn't make it any more right.

i find it crude, arrogant, and distasteful. the fact that they use humor as a form of psychological relief, again, doesn't make it right.

also, the comment on i-clubbers and bashing...we're pretty liberal on this board. try posting this at nasioc and you'll have political and literary freaks all over this.

OMG shut up! it's a ****ing war. it's not a trip to chuck e cheese. Yes what he did was wrong, im almost positive he gave them candy, food, water and whatever else afterwards. They're soliders that have been trained to kill so what did you expect? Did you expect them to give the two children flowers and chocolates? It's "psychological humor" for these guys.

I personally know of a few occasions when members of her majesty's 3rd para brigade filled MRE (meal ready to eat) garbage with feces, urine and used toliet paper...Iraqi children would run and grab them from the fire and sift through whatever else was uneaten like crackers and such. The British soliders laughed as they had drank tea.

But who cares about the British soldier, right? Yet the American bashing continues...

I'll give you that one. Generally speaking, I have a pretty horrible sense of humor...

I suppose I might be overly "pinko commie" on this one, I'm just a bit more prone to go off the deep end with bad humor that involves a people who we've already bent over (without the graciousness to use lube) hard enough.

Sorry. Truce?

Not changing my opinion, just apologizing if I went too far. And I still think that if you had a disabled sister in this kind of picture you'd give the soldier a good beating.

Re: so f'ed up

Seriously ****ed up I can't believe those damn Iraqi kids are wearing Real Madrid shirts, everybody knows they're ****e, and only win because they are backed by the spanish monarchy, I mean give me a break. Those Iraqi kids should be wearing Bayern Munich shirts, since the Germans didn't want to attack Iraq. Unbelievable.
