I raced a 04 mustang cobra last night that was not stock... he said that he was getting 460 hp to the wheels... and my STOCK STI was just as fast we were the same the whole way... is the sti that fast or is this guy just full of S*!#?

Someone from Colorado post running door to door with a Cobra ~ and three guys from Cali jump on him for 'street racing'.

Not all of the U.S. is wall to wall urban... say like from San Diego to SF?
I can drive for hours without ever seeing a 'school zone' or a 'stoplight'...

God forbid if a 911 tucks in behind me and runs for a half hour with me at illegal speeds down the hill (after fly fishing in the woods) on our way back into civilization.

Oh yeah, we never passed a single car, 'school zone', 'signal' or Trooper... Our bad.

 

yeah it was... he was reving like he was just gonna kill me and i wasnt gonna back down... then he was telling me he had 460 to the wheels and was boosting 12. so i raced him... i killed him of the line and then we ran the same speed.

 

How bout a pedastrian ?



Street Racing = Not cool... there are tracks for a reason.... But hey, if you must blow your load on the public streets... do it when valuable lives arent around... respect those around you....

 

I'm not defending anyone, but I must say that in the backwoods of Oregon you will not find a pedestrian. I have driven on roads that are void of any human life for miles and miles but I WOULD be cautious of animals.

 

Yeah, I dunno man... Sounds like he was talking out of his ***... my 9psi Kenne Bell GT runs low-mid 12s... depending on traction...

And ive been schooled by Kenne Bell Cobras, so I think he was talking out of his ***... But ehh, who knows..

 

I was just pulling the legal card on him... honestly, Im a realist and Im sure he looked out for people...

 

I am curious though, what is the difference between doing 100 mph down a road vs. doing a 100 mph down a road racing another car?

RACING a car @ 100mph introduces more variables, possibly doubling dangers as you have even less control because there is another driving performing the same idiocy.

 

I would be more likely find one of the 12 Elk that represent our Southern Oregon 'herd' on those roads then a pedestrian. The bottom line for me is use your head... I have never even bent any sheet-metal (yet alone had an accident) since I started driving. And even though I have been pulled over for triple digit speeds a half dozen times, I have had a total of 4 speeding tickets in my life (one just two months ago ~ argh).

I road raced for 2 decades on closed circuits (bikes and cars) and spent 25 years driving professionally for TV spots ("professional driver on a closed course"). It just rubs me very wrong when I have an "A or B" personality preaching how I should live.

If you are stupid you will die... we lost a motorcyclist here is So. Oregon who DID race every Friday night at the drags. His Hayabusa was well known for laying down amazing times. Well, last weekend he forgot he wasn't on a track. Estimates are 130 mph+ before he went head on into a cement truck.

There was nothing left to ID him. The license plate could not even be read. Remarkably his cell phone survived and the auto dial #1 was his girlfriend ~ you can guess how she found out. Stupid. It was on a rural road with probably 50 driveways along the way... one had a cement truck coming out. Stupid comes in many flavors. Just don't be one.

 

i dont think moffman was asking weather or not you aprove of racing. hes asking if what happened is posible. forget your racing opinions and give the guy a straight awnswer insted of ragging on him for racing.

 

The guy was full of ****, you might have been able to get him in 1st and maybe a tiny bit of second but as soon as he grabbed traction with 450whp+ he would destroy you similar to this:
