maybe keep trying?
in my dad's pathfinder i just put the key in and motion as if i am going to start it, and the wheel unlocks automatically.

did u check the manual?

Just turn the wheel while trying to start-it-up. Try the "wiggle and jiggle" some more.

you can do it put your back into it
