No one knows your car better than you, right? The steering, the torque, even the angles of the mirrors. It’s what you drive everyday and can’t be handled better by anyone else. Or can it?
The Toyo Tires MY CAR CHALLENGE will settle the debate once and for all. This December 12th, you’ll get the chance to take your car and burn asphalt, clocking in laps or drag times at California Speedway. Then pass the keys to a pro racer and watch them put their skills to the test. In the end, we'll find out who really knows your car the best. This event will be covered by Super Street, Sport Compact Car, Honda Tuning, eurotuner and Turbo magazines.
If you want to enter this competition fill out the application form and return it back to us. Once we review all of the applications we will contact the accepted participants by November 18th. All participants in the MY CAR CHALLENGE will receive a goodie bag with a t-shirt, stickers, magazines and parts for your car (parts TBD). For all those that are able to post a better time then the professional driver you will win $100 as well as your picture in the post event coverage in the magazines.
Format
There will be two components to the MY CAR CHALLENGE, depending on which magazine you are entered under you will either be competing on the road course or the drag strip. Super Street magazine will have both road course and drag race competitions.
See the list below for a breakdown:
Sport Compact Car – Road course competition
Honda Tuning – Road course competition (Honda’s only)
eurotuner - Road course competition (VW, Audi and BMW only)
Turbo - Drag race competition
Super Street - Combination of road course and drag race competition
Road Course
This event is to test your skills against a professional driver. It will be held at the interior road course of California Speedway, you will not have to drive on the oval. You will be given a morning practice session (20-30 minutes) to familiarize yourself with the track. After the practice session you will have a timed session (20-30 minutes) to record a time to compare with the pro driver. We will take the single best lap time of your session as the time to compare with the pro driver. After your timed session the pro driver will be given a practice session (20-30 minutes) to familiarize himself with your car. He will then be given 5 laps (1 warm up lap, 3 timed laps and 1 cool down lap) to record a time.
Drag Race
This event will be split into two sessions, one practice and one timed. It will be held at the drag strip at California Speedway. You will be given the morning to take practice runs and set up your car, the afternoon session will be your timed session to count as your time to compare to the pro drivers. After your afternoon session the pro drivers will get 3 passes in your car, any of those 3 passes will count as their time to compare.
Vehicle Preparation
1. All vehicles must use tires that are DOT approved.
2. Fuel choice is open.
3. All cars must run all decals required by the organizers. This will include doorplate on each side of the car as well as a windshield banner on either the top or bottom of the windshield and any other locations as specified.
4. There will be a mandatory tech inspection the day of the event at 8AM. Failure to be ready for tech inspection by 8AM automatically forfeits your entry. Entrants must have all work completed on car and ready for tech. Do not show up without your car 100% ready. Please do not show up without belts installed or padding on cages and state that you will be adding that (or other items) before you hit the track. No vehicles will be allowed to run if they have not been inspected.
5. NASA’s Southern California Region is managing vehicle inspection, timing and scoring. Your vehicle(s) must meet the basic requirements for street vehicles (HPDE) as stated in Section 11 of the NASA CCR, found at: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf
Ensure your vehicle will pass inspection. Contact us if you have any questions. If you arrive and your vehicle is deemed unsafe, it won’t run.
Personal and Vehicle Liability
We will do everything do ensure your personal safety as well as your vehicle’s safety but anytime you bring your car to a performance event there are risks involved. Primedia, Super Street, Sport Compact Car, Honda Tuning, eurotuner and Turbo magazines will not be liable for any damage to your vehicles done on your accord or by the professional driver.

Too bad I'll be in Japan, but I know I suck in my own car, no question.
They better put your car in parc ferme after you drive it... otherwise people will load a valet AP map in after they're done
