O please, the wrx isn't that hot in terms of handling either.

For the SRT 4 Dodge made a tradeoff to sacrifice some handling for superb braking, but I've driven an SRT-4 and it outhandles a stock wrx pretty much HANDS DOWN.

Stop with this "Get the SRT4 if all you care about is a straight line"

I mean, the rest of the import sportscar world says "Get a DSM or a wrx if all you care about is a straight line"

Resale value I agree with, reliability I don't. I just don't see how new USDM EJ20's living at the 400 hp level for the same amount of time as 4g63's with 100K miles on them constitutes "reliability"

Yeah you should search.

drive both and make a decision. everyone has an opinion but when it comes to considering a new car, your's and your family's is the only one that matters. the SRT-4 is fast, but I bought the wrx because

1. the interior styling is far superior.
2. the exterior styling (even though the bug eyes are similar) is much cooler.
3. more parts and options available, aftermarket wise.
4. AWD! I love to snowboard, and this car gets me there everytime with ease.
5. resale value (even though I never intend to sell it but you know how that goes!)

good luck with your search. the problem is with vehicle specific forums is that most people have a biased opinion. try www.edmunds.com for plenty of reviews, safety ratings etc. then you can compare apples to oranges for yourself.

everyone keeps bashing the srt-4's reliability just cause its a dodge. Did anybody look at any of the specs. the engine was pretty much built from the ground up specifically for this application. The engine is so beefy that i doubt it will have many issues. 2 months ago in sport compact magazine they gave detailed pictures and descriptions. Read that article and you wont be bashing reliability of the engine at least.

I beat one at the auto x He would stomp me in 1/4 though. I like them - they look cool and they're certainly fast. I chose the WRX for many of the reasons listed above.

Personally, I don't care how that engine was built, I still won't buy a turbo charged Dodge. I bought piece of mind when I got my suby I'm sure the SRT4 will be a great car, although I'm starting to see a lot of threads about problems. I saw one recently about one that burst in to flames so I dunno. Haven't seen any WRXs do that...

The WRX is a better platform for handling. Most people on this board would not keep either car stock. FWD and open diff (if an '03) are far from the ideal handling setup. If you care about carving up mountains and such the WRX is a much better car than the Neon. Who cares how long Eclipse motors last? The SRT-4 has a modded stratus motor IIRC. EJ20s seem to live just fine if tuned properly (just like most motors).

Additionally, the WRX is said to have one of THE stiffest chassis of any production car today.
