tranny swap
I would like to know if it's possible to swap a 4 or 5 speed auto(sportshifter) from a legacy and mate it to my 06 2.5i n/a motor or do need the motor also (legacy). plus do I need the ecu wiring from the Legacy. Is there a better way to do this. Why I'm asking because, I think nobody had done yet. I think it would be a cool project.
Thanks in advance

I'm here!
Well like you said nobody had done yet, so....not much help.
I would think, ( just guessing) that the N/A LEGACY motor and trans would be a match for the N/A Impreza motor because they both are 2.5l. But I'm not sure with the chassis design and maybe a few tweaks to the engine. (EJ255?)
If you want to double check try calling or e-mailing SOA and ask them.

I believe the 5EAT from the legacy is too big for the impreza chassis. Its also a lot more complicated than popping in the trans and plugging in an ecu. You have to look into the final drive ratio and make sure its the same as your rear diff, if not, swap out the rear diff. Also, things like the ABS module need to be changed if the gearing is different
