i read the 06 5mt's are stronger than the 02's. i wasnt aware they changed anything but the flywheel from the 02 to the 03. any truth to this?

i belive that they beefed up the 06 wrx transmission because thier going to make the 06 wrx's 2.5 liter therefore need a slightly stronger tranny.

Yes I was told that the 06 tranny weighs about 60-80 pounds more than pre 06

Gruppe-s just sold three 06 WRX trannys in the last week or so. You may want to ask them. They say the ratios are the same, too.

Bump,

Any word on the 06 Trannys? Is it worthy of a swap? Or are RA gears still a better deal?

I believe they updated all WRXs gears in 04... to the RA type, the wider ones, no? Don't know much about the 06 tranny tho... Curious as well...

i don't know if this'll help, but try this:

http://subaru.com.au/downloads/6DB71...09F1192CDD.pdf

and scroll to the transmission section
if you know the specs from the previous years, then we might be able to determine the diff.
