Question strange noise when letting in clutch and accelerating

I was wondering if anyone has heard a strange noise when letting the clutch grab and as u accelerate it, yhe noise gets quicker....its almost like a knocking noise but not loud like a knock..it is constant and the knocking gets quicker as i accelerate...it is definately coming from the front of the car and perhaps under the hood. Someone mentioned to me that it might be a throwout bearing or maybe the clutch needed adjustment (if hydraulic). I dont know much about subarus or cars for that matter when it comes to the actual mechanics of it. So any help and input is appreciated.
My car is an 03' with about 25k on it right now. I hope the problem isnt major but i know it cant be good and hope that warranty will cover it. TIA

BTW i did a search on this and all results do not seem to relate with the noise i have. It is not every so often, it is all the time. And it is not coming from the exhaust rattling or anything like that. The car is pretty much stock..

Wait.. so you mean.. as you are riding the clutch or as you are shifting or? You really shouldnt be accelerating while shifting. You Should back off the gas and shift, then back off the gas and shift. Especially with the stock clutch.

Or do you mean when starting off in 1st..could it be the shudder/chatter that there is the TSB for?

I know on my white trash ferrari (my fox body mustang). That the noise you are describing was made by the clutch being out of alignment therefore eating the throwout bearing.

yea it was the throwout bearing...I do let off the gas when shifting, in other words i know how to drive a manual...Thnx for the input guys the dealer is gonna cover it since its under warranty. They were insisting it was my exhaust and intake, and after gettin pissed off with them they actually took a look at it...

Could be a TO bearing...or if not, your first gear might be chipped, which I hav seen/experienced on a few Subaru's before.

If the noise does not go away until you shift out of first and into another gear, I'd lean more towards the actual first gear being damaged. On my last Subaru "97 Legacy GT), it sounded similar to a basball card in the spoke of the wheel on a bicycle till I had the damaged gear changed
