If you want a short shift, I'd recommend the Kartboy. And definitely get bushings too- they're more important than the short throws. Also, just gettign a small shift **** will help reduce the length of throws on newer WRXs.

Vivid doesn't actually make products, so it's probably a generic shifter they sold. I'd say probably not, since I got a short shifter off of eBay a year or two ago for $20 shipped. It had a nice throw, but rattled. I ditched it for the stocker this winter.

will a shortshifter increase the chances of harming the transmission via shifts that are too "fast" for the synchros?

Yes, if you already shift improperly, no if you do it right. A short shifter won't make you any faster or better at shifting, but it can make you worse.

cannot go wrong with the kartboy set up, it will not change the spead of your shifts, but will produce a more "positive" feel
