Overdrive on a manual... call me ignorant... but?
Could someone please explain what an overdrive is on a MT? I've only driven AT, but I am looking at getting a '04 STI.

Overdrive refers to a gear with taller than 1:1 ratios. It means the output shaft spins faster than the input shaft. Originally, automatics didn't have this but manuals did. Now every car does.

BAN SUV explained what overdrive is,
in case of 04 STi,
the 6th gear is overdrive
