A quick review how well my transmission worked for a trackday.
The power-on-tap is a big improvement. Whether I started in 2nd or even 3rd gear after a big brake prior to a corner, the power was there (although, I found that I only needed to start in 2nd if I messed up and braked too late. 3rd was preferred.) Bottom line, I was ALWAYS in boost.
I am a novice road course driver. As a matter of fact, it's been a year since I got to do it before. This is only my second trackday. Anyhow, this time, I purposely was trying not to use my tranny to slow me down. I figured I could get away with that since I've got Stoptechs. Problem is, while I was braking, I'd put the clutch in, and try and put the shifter in either 2nd or 3rd, whichever was appropriate; and it was sometimes pretty difficult to find the gear.
I think that this problem will be cured with practice and getting to know the car.
The other negative byproduct, which is more of a slam on myself, is that since I'm not yet used to the tranny, I bounce off of the limiter so easily if I'm not paying attention.
Therefore, I only have positive comments about how worthwhile the transmission is for trackdays. The negative comments are towards the driver.
