Has any one been able to get the GM Synchromesh (fluid)?

It should be carried at any GM dealer. I just went to the local Chevy dealership and bought a bottle of it.

Try asking for part number 12345349, Gr.8.800 (this latter part is probably a catalog reference section). If your local GM dealer does not stock this fluid, as long as they show the part number they can order it for you.

Here's another reference I found after a search, relating to both GM and Pennzoil Synchromesh fluids. I didn't search very thoroughly so I can't corroborate this information against what others may find.

Word of caution: avoid mixing tranny or gear lubes. Do not top off with a different lube than what is already residing in the transmission or rear diff. Obtain enough fluid to perform a complete drain and refill. Check the service manual for capacities. Each lubricant contains its own additives for corrosion protection and extreme pressure. They may not be compatible with other gear lubes.

I got mine with the Pennzoil brand name on it and the local Auto Zone or Kragens. Just like Wingless said above

Super

There HAVE been reported bearing failures using JUST GM Synchromesh in Subaru 5MT's.

I've been using a mix of mobil 1 and syncromesh that I got from a GM dealer in the irvine auto center for about 30,000 mi on my 03 bugeye. I just hit 70,000mi and she still shifts down into 1st at 20 like butta.......I'm not positive but i think i remember using 1 qt syncromesh and topped it with mobil 1. Also the gearbox got a lot quieter after the change.

I've never known Uncle Scotty to post misleading information. I take him at his word and welcome his insight. I'm sorry you don't care for his posts.
