Grinding in 3rd gear

Grinding in 3rd gear
So i have a 98 subaru IMpreza L when i **** it into 3 gear at about 4000 rpm it ginds. i have been told that my syncros are probly going but right now i dont have the moeny to fix it. i was just woundering if there is any thing i can do to fix it cheaply or if there is something else wrong wiht it. was thingk about changing the trany oil or add some more to it.

Well if it is your synchro's, 2nd gear usually goes out before 3rd because it is put under alot more stress than 3rd gear, which makes me think that there are nothing wrong with your synchro's, unless you had a shot 3rd gear synchro to begin with. Just put in a good quality 75w-90 gear oil prefferably synthetic if you dont want to spend that much just go semi-syn.
