Exedy twin plate clutch combo...

fried my clutch today racing a turbocharged gsr... bastard! i am thing about getting the exedy twin plate clutch w/ flywheel combo. i was wondering if anyone has this clutch kit on their car and what they think of it. i can get the kit from my work for about $1000 and it seems like a pretty good price. im just afraid it will bust these weak trannys. 1st- 3rd gears are jacked up already.

stock clutch, approx 259-275 crank hp. this is my daily driver but if i have to put a clutch in i want to put in something heavy duty so i wont have to worry about it for awhile. i dont really drive it that hard, i just like taking turns. i very close to ordering this kit, exedy is a good brand and has a pretty good reputation.... we'll see.

well 2 plate clutches are expensive and for the power your pusting and it being a daily driver I'd say going with a Cobb clutch because that twin plate is going to be stiff and I think it has ceramic friction material can be jerky and abusive on you and your glass trany plus Cobb only wants $475

Go with an Exedy sport clutch. It's OE on the STi, how can you go wrong? Anything higher is overkill for your car. While your at it though, get a new flywheel as well. Adam @ Z1 Performance usually has excellent pricing on availability on these units.

well at my work i can get he exedy twin plate and flywheel for 1000 but i guess it would be a little ridiculous for my car at this point... i might just go with the hyper clutch and flywheel. i understand that these are very fragile trannys and i already think i damaged mind. do you think the hyper clutch will be ok?

It's not really the clutch, it's in how you shift.

i just read the new scc mag with the sti comparison with gd8 wrx's. the one dude with the crazy wrx has the exedy twin plate and car was the slowest one... it said something about the clutch not being able to slip at all... it jsut grips that mug, its either on or off. well i was thinking just let the clutch out when its in boost.. but i think it might break the transmission that way. well i think imma just go with a not as beefy clutch.
