Dice, sure it is. JK
If your going to toss a new clutch in, mine as well get a super light flywheel. ACT makes and impressive kit. The stock flywheel weighs about 29lbs while the super flywheel weighs in at 10.1 lbs. If you wan't some kick *** torque... go this direction. I can get you an impressive set up for about $360. Check us out www.cp-racing.com

I bought my '01 RS in 12/04. It had a really badly shaking clutch (when cold) ie when you let the clutch out you hear a banging noise and everything is shaking. In 2/05 I had a new Exedy Sport clutch installed with the Exedy lightweight (13.9lbs) flywheel, and I have had nothing but problems since day 1. I replaced the slave cylinder, the master cylinder and the hose all with OEM Subaru parts replaced strictly to the Subaru Shop Manuals direction, and the problems continue. Now, it shakes and vibrates as much as the stock clutch did after ~8 months and 4k miles. I have a recurring misfire CEL that is due to the flywheel as well. The car is is also very different to drive around town with the A/C on vs with it off, like the compressor load spins the engine down MUCH quicker, making it hard to even shift between gears at times.
I really enjoy the quicker downshifts due to the flywheel, but the drawbacks are much more noticable. I have had many different cars with high performance clutches (much higher grade than this) and many with light and lighter flywheels, and never experienced problems like this. This car makes me look like a fool just about every day. I will definitely think twice about going with a non OEM flywheel in the future. If anyone knows one that FOR SURE does not cause CELs and other drivability issues, let me know. I will be changing my "new" clutch out as soon as I can afford to do so.
