Differential noise

I have a grinding noise from the rear when I turn. I was trying to put it off as long as possible, but it is getting loud. I think the diff is grinding because it only happens when I turn. No movement in wheels so I am guessing it is not a wheel bearing. I have an 02 WRX with 52k mile. The car is not beat and has never been to the track. Is this a common problem? Any recommended place online for OEM parts? Thanks

When was the last time you changed the diff fluid?

I changed it at 30K. I am changing it again tomorrow. I am hoping when I put it on the lift there just something scraping the axle or something stupid like that. I would really hate to replace the diff.

What kind of fluid did you use? I just did mine about a month back and couldnt get the lockup to stop, Constant grinding on turns. After much reading on here i just switched over to Redline shockproof and wow what a difference.

Look up diff fluids in the search engine and read read read and you will have a good idea about what fluids would best suit your ride.

youre not supposed to put redline in your rear diff. use Subaru LSD Oil.
