Question diff 101

I was hoping that someone could take the time to break down differentials for me. I have an 05 Rs and i'm not sure how the power is distributed. Am i correct that there are 3 diffs in all wheel drive cars? One splits power front to rear, what is my ratio here? and the front and rear diffs split the power left to right, what is the ratio here? Thanks, i just need someone to help me understand.

it all depends. I believe the rs has a final drive ratio (MT) of 4.11. the wrx and sti have a 3.90 final drive. If you have a manual trans, I believe the split is 50/50, or damn close, anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong. If you get a impreza broshure from the dealer, it describes all of the diff awd systems and which one your car has. maybe even subaru.com

I believe the 06 STi they changed the ratio from the previous year's 3.90 to around 3.60. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

its my understanding that the wrx (since 02-present) and the sti have always been 3.90 final drive. The RS and the forester are the only subies that have or had 4.11 gear ratio final drive

Back to the original topic. So if my RS is 50/50 front to rear is it also 50/50 left right? My old Nova was a one tire burner, so i was wondering if the same thing happends in my RS.
