clutch pedal squeak

a little help please...

it just started happening yesterday. it seems to only happen when starting off, I step on the clutch and there is squeek/whine noise. at first I thought it was the lubrication with the pedal itself but it only happens when I start off (eg no noise from other shifts).

any ideas... I looked in the manual and it could be the bushings. but that would mean the noise would happen at every shift.

TIA

Most likely the T/O bearing..................(or clutch slave cylinder <----not likely though)

unfortunally its located in the tranny bell housing and its a 6 hour job...

*do you have a need for new clutch, flywheel, etc...this is when you would want to do all this.

It can either be T/O bearing, Clutch Slave Cylinder, DUST....or it could be nothing at all.

*mechanical parts make noise, some is totally normal....but kinda hard to diagnose over a computer

Can you reproduce the squeaking sound with the engine off and vehicle at rest?

The description of the sound is confusing. Find out where the squeaking sound originates from by putting the car on ramps so another person can try to locate the source from underneath the vehicle while you depress and release the clutch pedal. Don't do this using only a jack to raise the vehicle as your movement may dislodge the vehicle off the jack.

^^^^ good advice. I didn't have time last night to do much. I figured it was pedal lubrication thing until this morning when I paid more attention. I'm going to do that tonight.

Clutch Squeak

My 99 Forester, 2000 L Coupe 2.2, and my 2005 Impreza Wagon 2.5RS all had squeaky clutches.

They lube the pivot in the bell housing and it is good for a few weeks. I wish I knew of a stickier lube that would stand the heat and motion.

I could ask them to split the tranny from the engine and put in some new parts....still might......but it will just re-occur. I am told if you do not address the problem that you run the risk of scoring the casing somehow.....to me though it sounds like rubber clutch springs that are weak.

On my car it is definitely driving style or heat dependent.....

It is annoying. None of my old Hondas or Acuras did anything like this.....

I used to have a squeak when depressing the clutch, sprayed some teflon lube on the spring behind the pedal and all is well...

i just noticed a sqeak the other day. only happens when the cluth is depressed about 75-80% and with my exaust i can only hear it with the car off. it definitely sounds like its coming from outside of the cabin though.

Same noise only mine seems a little more complicating. For a while my clutch pedel felt very soft, almost as if the clutch plate wasn't really grabbing. I took it into the dealership and they said that nothing appeared wrong. Now, my clutch pedal feels stiff again and it's squeeking. I don't know what's going on. Any ideas? 05 RS
