Ummm...there is no oil in the "clutch". There is hydraulic fluid in the system that engages and disengages the clutch. If there is oil in the clutch it means that the rear main on the engine is gone and engine oil mabey leaking into the transmission. Does it smell like burt oil or a burning clutch? They smell entirely different, the clutch will smell like hot burning metal, just like overheated brakes smell.
I dont know if this is cool for an AWD car so hopefully someone can back me up on this one. A simple test for clutch slippage is to find a safe area with plenty of room. Engage the emergency brake, put the car in second and try to take off. DONT rev the engine! Just let out the clutch and see if the car stalls. A good clutch will stall the car, a slipping clutch will just bog the engine, but not stall it immediately. Again, I am not sure if this is safe for an AWD car, but it works for other cars.
Good luck

To be honest, it sounds like you're doing what you said- burning the clutch. Drive smoother, and if you still get the smell, have it checked out by a dealer.
