6SPD Transmission Upgrade

I am interested in upgrading my transmission to try to avoid any problems I might have in the future. I already have occasional problems with grinding while trying to shift into first without being at a complete stop. I definitely do not drive the car very hard. This is my daily driver, and I rarely rip on it, unless I am just in one of those moods. Anyway, I just want to upgrade it to a 6-speed, even if I won't ever have any problems. Does anyone have any suggestions? Besides the STI tranny (which I am having an extremely difficult time trying to find), are there any other alternatives?

www.gimmiegears.com sells upgraded gearsets for the WRX for $3300. You can read about them in the latest issue of Turbo magazine. I'm sure it's not as good as the STi, but it's alot cheaper and better than stock. I think some rally cars use their gears.

Screw that! I did my 6 speed tranny for $4000. I will never have to worry about Subaru's POS weak gearbox design ever again!

www.rallispec.com has the 5 to 6 speed tranny upgrade kit for $2300
