500whp WRX

I am building a 500whp wrx and was wondering what kind of gears or transmission I should use. I have heard good things about dog boxes and the Sti six-speed.

I read an article in Turbo about a company called, GimmieGears. Essentially, they're new gears for your stock tranny. Not as noisy as dogbox and last longer, and not as much trouble as replacing a transmission, ie there's more to switching the transmission than just putting in a new one. But, if you're building the whole car to 500hp, you probably already know that. In that case, it's just another option.

i hear the automatic transmition is realy strong. easy street uses that on there 740 hp wrx

740!?! can you say "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEE I CRAPPED OUT MY NUTS WHEN IT HIT SECOND GEAR!!!" whats that get for a quarter mile time?is it in the 8's?!

Ummmm......No if I recall there best time to date was a 9.98.

Car Info: 2003 WRX 5-Spd,short throw, premium sound, security, yellow... stock... MINE!!

It's gonna take a LOT of HP/Tq. and hundreds of hours of tuning to get a WRX into the 8's. Not to mention countless thousands of dollars.

It probably wouldn't even "be" a WRX once you get it to 8's. Your still only dealing with 4 cylinders worth of power.

The problem with gearsets is they don't really fix the problem, they just make the tranny more resistant to it. Case flex is usually the gremlin responsible for stripped gears and crapped out synchros.
