WRX vs. Lamborghini Mira P400
A couple of days ago I'm driving back from Newport. It was around 9:30pm or so on Rt 95. There was very little traffic at this time which was odd. There is a 7 mile or so stretch that is pretty straight and flat. I'm doing about 65 in 5th gear when I see the faint outline of what appears to be a yellow car approx 1/2 mile ahead.
I knew right off the bat that this wasn't an ordinary car. It was low, wide and bright yellow. It had to be something exotic. As I got closer I could see the Lamborghini emblem on the back. I couldn't make out the model but I could tell it was an older model (pre-countach).http://www.lambocars.com/framed/index.htm As I pulled along side of it I glanced over to the driver. He glanced back. We exchanged glances once more. There was a unspoken affirmation between the two of us.
I dropped down to 4th and punched it just as I did he got on it. As I watched the tach climb slowly he began inching away from me. As he was just starting to pull away from me a car came up in his lane. He slowed and moved to the right lane. He was a 1/2 car behind and began creeping on me again. At this time I was taching about 5.5-6k in 4th and running out of gear fast. He pulled even with me and began walking away from me ever so slowly.
There was a car in his lane again but this time he moved into my lane he had me by about a car and a 1/2. I finally looked down at the speedo. I won't say how fast I was going but I was coming up on redline in 4th gear. Figure it out. This was too hairy for me. Just as I let off and backed down the Lambo did the same. He slowed to about 65-70 and I walked by him. As I passed him I beeped and waved and I could see him flash his high beams in the rear view.
I did some research to find out about this car before I posted. There are not hella fast in the 1/4 (14.6 @ 101) but it tops out at 174mph. I could tell by the look on his face that he was a bit surprised by the WRX.

yeah its a free country but it is a moderated forum and you agreed to terms when you signed up.
But I don't think this really qualifies as a street racing post, more like an "exotic sighting"
and those Miura's still rank near the top of my all time most beautiful cars list, too bad the engine and gearbox share the same oil in the early ones
