haha for sure oh well at least i go there enough that the announcer at milan knows not to call my car an import while im at the line he at least says subaru....everything else that is from overseas they call an import there
Don't run on larger wheels, you lose rotational enertia. If you get some light 16 inchers and run with some really good tires you will see some surprising results. I think even the stock 16s are good too.

it seems to me that smaller wheels would be good for the start but wouldnt larger diameter wheels bring better gains at the end of the track?

16" Tires weigh about the same as 18" tires. Even though the 18's look a lot smaller they have to have a verry heavy and dense side wall because the whole weight of the car is now running on 2-3". Also most aftermarket wheels are made of aluminum and are one peice cast. these wheels arent performance wheels. they probally weigh more than your stock 16's. I would just give the stockers a try. The only problem is they came with those Bridgestones "Not Verry Sticky". They were made for durability not performance.

ya i know the weight diff is gonna be in the wheels but i dont even have stockers so im borrowing my friends and he has michelins on em i dont know what ones but hopefully they will be fine plus girp isnt a huge deal at the drag strip anyways with all that rubber at the starting line.....like i said before the only thing i was worried about is the smaller diameter towards the end of the track but i guess the overall diameter will be about the same but whatever i guess you never know til you try
Has anyone ever had traction problems on stock wheels and tires at the track ? By traction problems I mean EXCESSIVE wheel spin off the line. Wheel spin in a AWD car is your friend, harder to bust a tranny if the wheels are slipping a bit off launch.
