sti conversion on 93 L
picking up a 93L soon. and i have a few questions about turning this diked out purple sedan into a fierce diked out sleeper. i'm looking to aquire an OBDI Japanese spec front clip of some sort. i'm presume that the wiring required to swap a OBDI engine into an OBDI car is far more simple than the OBDII swaps like that of the article in Sport Compact Car or anything that i've seen LIC do. Some sources say only 8 or 9 wire splices are thats required instead of the 30-50
If anyone has experience with this type of swap please tell me a little more about the procedure. i beg of you, on my knees i beg of you. In the OBDI cars, are the engine and chassis harnesses seperate (unlike OBDII models)? I guess a better question would be, whether to use the car's original ECU connector or the connector that comes in the front clip? As you can see, i'm lost in the forest.
On a side note, which Japanese OBDI engine is recommended in terms of ease of installation and compatibility with my chassis. There are so many variations it makes my head spin, Spec C, RA, WRX, STi? Will any of these have a transmission that will work with the 93 L's rear differential's final drive ratio? Right now i'm eyeing a pretty little Ver2 STi front clip with 37,000 miles on it.
Thank you kindly for reading all that and a special thanks to anyone who replies.

a 95 sti ra is what you want bbecause it is closed deck or go with a v3 and have a 8k rev limit with a semi-closed deck
but the impreza in japan was obd1 til 2k
i think that should be a 95 if it is a v2
you are going to have the rear out of a RS because the ratio is 4.11 not 3.9

yes but the sti rear diff has a helical limited slip instead of the viscous the rs has if it even has that
oh forgot to say that if it is 95 or older it is closed deck no matter what it comes from so if you got a 95 wrx the short block would be the same as a 95 ra
